Finding your number

Where to find your Reference No and Customer ID

Pick up any old MEPCO bill. The "Consumer Detail" box at the top left holds both numbers, and either one opens your current bill.

  • Type digits only; spaces and dashes are not needed.
  • Leave U (urban) selected unless your bill is a rural (R) connection.
  • If the reference number fails, try the Customer ID.

1 Reference No: 14 digits, first line of the "Consumer Detail" box at the top left.

2 Customer ID: 10 digits, just below it in the same box. Either number opens the same bill.

Quick answer: To check your MEPCO bill online, type the 14-digit reference number (or the 10-digit customer ID) printed at the top left of any old bill into the search box above and press Search. The current bill appears on this page, and you can print it or save it as a PDF.

How to check your MEPCO bill online, step by step

The bill you see here is the same document MEPCO consumers get from the official PITC billing system. You don’t need to sign up, install an app or share your CNIC. One number is enough.

  1. Find your number. On any old bill, look at the Consumer Detail box at the top left. The first line is the 14-digit Reference No; just under it is the 10-digit Consumer ID.
  2. Pick the search type. Choose Reference No or Customer ID. Keep U (urban) selected unless your connection is rural, in which case choose R.
  3. Type the digits. No spaces or dashes are needed. The box groups a reference number as it appears on paper, so it is easy to compare.
  4. Press Search. In a few seconds the full bill opens below the form, without leaving this website.
  5. Print or save it. Tap Print / Save PDF. On a phone, choose “Save as PDF” in the print screen to keep a copy.

Tick Remember this number on this device and next month you can open your bill with a single tap. The number stays in your own browser; it is never sent to us for storage.

That’s the whole MEPCO bill check online method. If someone in the family asks you for the “bill check karne ka tarika”, these five steps are it, whether the bill is for your own house, a rented shop or your parents’ home.

Check your MEPCO bill on mobile

This page is built for phones first. Open it in Chrome, Safari or any other browser, type your number and the bill fits your screen. There’s nothing to download and no account to create.

  • Zoom in on the bill with two fingers to read small boxes like arrears or the tax lines.
  • Save it as a PDF from Print / Save PDF and share it on WhatsApp with whoever pays the bill.
  • Add this page to your home screen from the browser menu, so your MEPCO bill check is one tap away next month.

People often look for a “MEPCO bill app”. MEPCO does have its own mobile app, with a bill estimator, power complaint and load-shedding information. To simply view and print the current bill, though, a browser is enough, and this page works without installing anything.

What the bill on this page shows you

Everything on your paper bill is here, because it is the same bill. The parts most people look for first:

Payable within due date

The amount to pay on or before the due date. This is the figure your bank or wallet app will also show.

Payable after due date

The higher amount once the late payment (L.P.) surcharge is added. Some bills show two stages, each with its own date.

Paid stamp

When a payment has been posted, the bill shows the amount paid and payment date, often with a “PAID” stamp.

Units and readings

Previous reading, present reading and units consumed, with your tariff (for example A-1A for homes) and sanctioned load.

Want every box explained, including arrears, adjustments, subsidies and FPA? Read how to read your MEPCO bill.

Understanding the amounts at a glance

Your MEPCO consumer bill packs a lot onto one page. If you only have a minute, read it in this order:

  1. Bill month and due date. Confirm you’re looking at the month you think you are.
  2. Payable within due date. This is the number to pay. If it looks higher than usual, check the arrears line next.
  3. Arrears. Any amount left unpaid from earlier months is added here. If you already paid it, keep the receipt handy.
  4. Units consumed. Compare them with the same month last year, not with last month.
  5. Bill history. The online bill includes a 12-month table of month, status, units, bill and payment, so you can see your pattern without digging out old papers. More on this in MEPCO bill history.

Recent bills also carry a Raast QR code for paying from a bank app and a second QR code for the charges. The official PITC bill page also has a tab for the Certificate of Collection of Tax (section 235), useful if you need a record of the tax collected through your electricity bill. The tax lines are explained in taxes on your MEPCO bill.

Print a duplicate bill or save it as a PDF

A lost or damaged paper bill is not a problem. Open the bill here and press Print / Save PDF. The printout is the official bill layout, including the barcode and QR codes, so you can take it to a bank branch. Step-by-step help for phones and computers is in our MEPCO duplicate bill guide.

Ways to pay your MEPCO bill

You pay MEPCO, never a website or a person. Use your reference number with any of these:

  • Raast QR: recent bills carry a QR code you can scan with your bank app to pay instantly.
  • Banking apps and internet banking: choose Utility Bills → Electricity → MEPCO, then enter the 14-digit reference number.
  • JazzCash and Easypaisa: under Bill Payment → Electricity → MEPCO.
  • Bank branches and post offices: take the printed bill before the due date.

After paying, check your bill again here. Once MEPCO posts the payment, the amount and date appear on the bill. Full details: MEPCO bill payment methods.

When does the new MEPCO bill come out?

Each bill prints three dates: the reading date (when your meter was read), the issue date and the due date. A new bill can be checked online once it is issued, which is usually a few days after the reading. If you search before that, you will still see last month’s bill. Check the issue date on the bill to know which month you are looking at.

Common mistakes when checking your bill

Most “wrong bill” worries come from a handful of small slips. Before you call anyone, rule these out:

  • Mixing up the two numbers. A 10-digit customer ID typed in Reference No mode won’t work. Match the number to the search type.
  • Reading last month’s bill. If the new bill hasn’t been issued yet, you’ll see the old one. Check the bill month and issue date first.
  • Paying the after-due-date amount by mistake. Pay the “within due date” figure on time and you avoid the surcharge.
  • Using a neighbour’s or old tenant’s number. The bill opens for that connection, not yours. Check the name and address on the bill.
  • Typing your CNIC into random sites. A real bill lookup only needs the reference number or customer ID.

Bill not showing? Try this

  • Count the digits. Reference No has 14 digits, Customer ID has 10.
  • Switch the search type. If one number doesn’t work, try the other one from the same bill.
  • Try R instead of U if your connection is in a rural area.
  • Wait and retry. When the PITC server is busy, stay on this page and try again after a moment.
  • Number lost? See how to recover a lost reference number.

MEPCO web bill vs this page: what is PITC?

PITC stands for Power Information Technology Company. It runs the official MEPCO web bill at bill.pitc.com.pk/mepcobill, where you search by the 14-digit reference number or 10-digit customer ID and choose U (urban) or R (rural). When people search for “PITC MEPCO bill” or “MEPCO web bill”, that’s the system they mean.

This page asks that same PITC system for your bill and shows it to you unchanged, without redirecting you away. What we add is a mobile-friendly layout, a one-tap print button and plain-language help. Many people also type “www mepco com pk bill check” into search. MEPCO’s own website is mepco.com.pk, while the bill itself comes from PITC.

WAPDA bill or MEPCO bill? Same thing in South Punjab

Lots of people still call their electricity bill a “WAPDA bill”, and search for a “WAPDA bill online check” when they want it. If you live in MEPCO’s service area, the bill you’re after is issued by MEPCO. So a WAPDA bill online check for MEPCO is exactly the search on this page: same reference number, same bill.

The same goes for “bijli ka bill check” or “online bijli bill check”, the Roman-Urdu way many people describe it, and for میپکو بل چیک in Urdu script. Different words, one task. If you’d rather read these instructions in Urdu, use the language switch at the top of the page.

MEPCO bill in Multan, Bahawalpur, DG Khan and other districts

Multan Electric Power Company supplies electricity to South Punjab, from its head office on Khanewal Road, Multan. Its service area covers 15 districts: Multan, Muzaffargarh, Kot Addu, Layyah, Dera Ghazi Khan, Taunsa, Rajanpur, Lodhran, Bahawalpur, Rahim Yar Khan, Khanewal, Sahiwal, Pakpattan, Vehari and Bahawalnagar. If your bill says MEPCO, this tool will find it. Circle-wise phone numbers are on our MEPCO offices page.

MEPCO manages these districts through 9 circles, but you don’t need to pick a city or circle to see your bill. A MEPCO bill in Multan, Bahawalpur or DG Khan opens the same way: enter the number and choose U or R. The district only matters when you need an office in person.

Is this the official MEPCO website?

No. MEPCO Bill Check is an independent helper. We are not linked to MEPCO, PITC, WAPDA or NEPRA. When you search, our server asks the official PITC billing system for your bill and shows it to you as it is. We do not change any figure, we do not keep your number or your bill, and we never take payments. For complaints, MEPCO’s own helpline is 118 or 0800-63726.

Frequently Asked Questions

How can I check my MEPCO bill online?

Enter the 14-digit reference number or 10-digit customer ID from any old bill in the search box on this page and press Search. The current bill opens on the same page, ready to print or save as a PDF.

Can I check my MEPCO bill with only the customer ID?

Yes. Select Customer ID, type the 10 digits printed under the reference number on an old bill, and press Search. It opens the same bill as the reference number.

What do U and R mean in the search box?

U stands for urban and R for rural. Most consumers should leave U selected. If a correct number returns no bill and your connection is in a village area, try R.

Can I check my MEPCO bill by CNIC or name?

No. The PITC billing system only searches by reference number or customer ID. If you have lost both, MEPCO can trace your reference number from your CNIC and address at the helpline or your sub-division office.

Is a printed online bill accepted by banks?

Yes. The printout is the official bill with its barcode, so banks and post offices accept it for payment before the due date. Wallet apps only need the reference number.

How do I know my bill is paid?

Search your bill again a day or two after paying. Once MEPCO posts the payment, the bill shows the amount paid and the payment date, often with a PAID stamp.

Does this website store my reference number?

No. Your number is sent only to fetch the bill and is not saved on our server. If you tick Remember, it is kept in your own browser so you can reopen your bill next month.

What is the MEPCO helpline number?

MEPCO complaints can be made on 118 or the toll-free number 0800-63726. Billing corrections are handled by your sub-division customer service centre.

Is the PITC MEPCO web bill the same as the bill on this page?

Yes. PITC (Power Information Technology Company) runs the official MEPCO web bill at bill.pitc.com.pk/mepcobill. This page fetches your bill from that same system and shows it unchanged, with a mobile-friendly layout and a print button. We don't edit any amount or store your number.

Is WAPDA bill check the same as MEPCO bill check?

In South Punjab, yes. Many people still call their electricity bill a WAPDA bill, but in MEPCO's 15 districts the bill is issued by MEPCO. Enter the reference number or customer ID from that bill here and you'll see the same bill, ready to print.

Is there a MEPCO bill app for checking my bill on mobile?

MEPCO has its own mobile app with a bill estimator, power complaint and load-shedding information. You don't need any app just to view your bill, though. Open this page in your phone's browser, enter your number, then print it or save it as a PDF.

How do I check my MEPCO bill in Multan or Bahawalpur?

The same way as anywhere in MEPCO's area. Enter the 14-digit reference number or 10-digit customer ID and choose U for urban or R for rural. There's no city selector, because the number already identifies your connection, whether it's in Multan, Bahawalpur, DG Khan or Sahiwal.
